Terms of Service
The terms for using the FamilyLock app, in plain words.
Effective October 6, 2026
These terms govern your use of the FamilyLock Android application (the "App"), made by Harborline ("we", "us", "our"). By installing or using the App you agree to them.
1. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the App on Android phones you own or are responsible for, under the Google account used to buy it. The App is licensed, not sold.
2. Purchases
The App is a one time purchase through Google Play, tied to the Google account that bought it. Google Play processes the payment; we never receive or store your payment details. Refunds follow Google Play's refund policy.
3. Intended use and your responsibility
FamilyLock lets the person responsible for a phone, normally a parent or guardian, set rules for the apps on it. You are responsible for:
- Having the right to install restriction software on the phone in question.
- Following the laws where you live about monitoring, consent, and the rights of minors.
- Keeping your PINs, recovery code and backup answer private.
The App uses Android's Accessibility service to see which app is open, to stop it, and any apps you protect, being uninstalled without your PIN, and to keep Settings behind your PIN. Setup explains this before it is switched on, and the App does nothing until you agree. By agreeing you confirm you are the parent, guardian or other person responsible for the phone and authorize that use.
The App is a tool. We make no claim about its suitability for any particular family or legal situation.
4. No account and no remote recovery
The App stores everything on the phone and has no server or account system. We cannot recover a lost PIN, restore settings after an uninstall, or move settings between phones. To keep a way back in, save the recovery code the App shows you, and add a backup question or a second parent PIN in Setup.
5. Support
We offer support by email and through the report form on this site. We try to answer quickly but cannot promise a response time.
6. No warranty
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not promise that the App will be uninterrupted or error free, or that it will block every app or situation you intend it to. No parental control can prevent every workaround: Safe Mode or a factory reset, for example, gets around it. Some limits are described in the FAQ.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App, including any consequence of the App failing to lock or restrict an app.
8. Changes
We may update the App or these terms. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms. Material changes will show a new effective date above.
9. Ending use
You can stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it; FamilyLock asks for the parent PIN first. We may stop supporting the App at our discretion; a purchased license lets you keep using the version you have installed.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules.
